The agricultural sector leads the way in the tracking process
Based on current evidence, today’s consumers are increasingly aware of food quality.

An ever-increasing number of consumers want to know the source of products they buy. For some consumers, this question extends to the means of production: organic or conventional, distance from farm to plate, etc.

Québec farmers are serious about properly feeding “their” people, and are therefore listening to these concerns. For several years, they have been actively engaged in the development and implementation of healthy food programs on the farm, based on established scientific principles.

One such achievement is their collabora- tion with Agri-Traçabilité Québec (ATQ) in implementing permanent tagging systems and food traceability. The cattle, sheep and cervid sectors are already benefiting from this, and other systems are being developed in the pork, eggs, fruit and vegetable sectors.

This progressive approach has made Québec the leader in farm product traceability in Canada. The Union des producteurs agricoles is a proud partner in this process, and its members on the front lines are actively seeking new solutions and fine-tuning their practices, demonstrating a sense of responsibility within the agri-food chain.
